Description

Detached Works [01] represents the next installment in the longstanding Detached mix series. A concept started over 10 years ago by Dumb-Unit label owner, DJ and producer Jeremy P Caulfield. Originally hailing from Toronto Canada, Jeremy with a close faction of other DJs was responsible for building that cities rich techno scene through the late 90s. Over the course of this time he held many of the city’s top residencies including FUKHOUSE @ Industry, one of the largest monthly techno nights in North America. Transplanting himself to Berlin in late 2003 he teamed up with a new label partner American raised, German bred, Ingo Gansera (Excercise One) and a new synergy emerged. Since then the two have quietly woven Dumb-Unit deep into the city’s rich electronic music scene. Excited to be part of this dynamic faction, yet not keen to jump on an already moving train, the duo avoided shoulder tapping the old guard and instead focused on crafting Dumb-Unit to be an outlet for a newly emerging attitude. The results have demonstrated this is working, as Dumb-Unit continues to present an ever growing and varied roster to the public.

CD 1 is a straightforward concept. Collect some of the best Dumb-Unit tracks of the last 2 years and put them together on CD for all to take pleasure in. Dumb-Unit’s acclaimed roster of artists is set to impress those who feel that minimal has recently slumped over the steering wheel
and driven into the ditch named overkill.

CD 2 is a by far a larger undertaking but with no different goal. Through his tight network of international friends Jeremy has compiled an arresting mix of the highest caliber. Mixed on two turntables but using SERATO SCRATCH technology, Jeremy has scoured his acquaintances hard drives
and mp3 promo pools and begged them to let him use what he found. The result is a mix that is as fresh as he could get away without bootlegging it. Filled to the brim with notable up and comers as well as a bevy of household names , Detached is a targeted examination of some of the most prodigious pockets of musical talent arising the world over.
